dull clicking noise v3

I own a SCPH-30002 PAL v3 and its been workin great for two whole years until the day I fitted it with a Messiah 1 (1 week ago). Now once in awhile I put in an original DVD game the PS2 laser will start to click at the splash screen and it would go into browser mode(screen with electrons). but about three seconds later the game will boot and the "Playstation 2" logo comes up and everything would work fine from there. Why is this happening!? Clearly it must be the chip as it has never happened before..Is there any way I can fix this problem?

Also, Im aware of charlie_ps2's FAQ on this. but the FAQ deals with DVD-R, not originals, such as my case..
