ok when i start my ps2 with any game in the drive the laser makes no atempt at reading the cd or dvd and goes striate to the browers screen and when i click to read the disc it also dosent try to read the disc.( you cant hear the laser trying to read it).
so should i just try to get a new laser at lik-sang or a place like it.
I myself have that problem with a v7 ps2. It seems that my cable that connects to the eye-to-mobo affects the access to it (similar to ide cable on comp harddrive). I still haven't figured out how to fix it (possibily bad eye-to-mobo-cable). But check to make sure the cable is in all the way on the side of the dvd-rom (look and you can see that one controls spinning engine, one contols the eye movement, and i dont know what the third side cable does (possibily eject power?) Check the cable.And if by some chance you fix it, could you tell me?
What's the history? You just installed modchip? What version PS2? etc.Quote:

i had the mod chip installed back in august of last year by LOD the laser just stoped reading the other day but it happend after i tried to play a ps1 game first time it wouldent load one. after nothing would load. ps i have a magic2
