I have a V7 (GH-022) that needs a new DMS3 chip.
The install went well, no issues. The unit now plays all originals, as well as PS1 copies. I get RSOD on any/all PS2 backups.
I've done the install twice now, and same result. Any thoughts?

Try cleaning the laser. Measure the dvd pot.
Believe me, cleaning the laser was the first thing I did.
The DVD pot sits at exactly 900. Any idea what the factory default is for a V10 laser?
Check your soldering, make sure there are no bridging between the IC's legs.
Then I would try to flash the chip to its lastest firmware.
Make sure you're using good dvd media as well. Verbatim or Ritek is good. There are other brands out there that are good as well but Verbatim is best and I think Ritek comes in second. What brand are you using?
Last try to crank the dvd pot to 1000-1100. I thought you had a V7 though? Did you replace the laser or something?
Right... my mistake. It is a V7. I have a seperate issue with a V10.
I can find no bridges anywhere. I will do the flash, and yes, I use Riteks. Let you know after I crank up the ohm's.
well if it's booting ps1 backups a-n is ok then checko-w. if they are ok then suspect the laser.
Here's a stupid question... what would the result be of putting a DMS3 v9 into a v7? I ask, because it suddenly occurred to me to check, and sure enough, it's a v9.
Prolly would have worked had it been a new PLUS, but alas...
I appreciate any and all flaming... I deserve it.
It wouldn't work... Well I guess you found your problem.
