Dms3 Vs Dms4 –
What are the big differences? I really dont feel like dishing out $50 for it unless it is really goo.
Dms4 has Autoboot, Macrovision removed and onboard "HDLoader"
these are the 3 big things the Dms3 doesn't have
Would you happen to know the capacity hard drive the onboard HDLoader handles? Is it 120GB or 200GB, maybe more?
In version 0.1 it is only up to 120 gb
they (or more likely only FilterX ^^) are writing a new 48bit patch from scratch, maybe it wil lbe included in the next version
Doesn't seem that big of a deal. Autoboot, I could hardly care. If you don't know what the hell you are putting in the disk drive, you shouldn't put it in there in the first place. What is marcovision? ON-board HDloader doesn't really bother me, because it is on my memory card and on a disk. What I really want is ground breaking features like USB support for instantance or something.
Macrovision is the analog technology that prevents you from recording a video to VHS/BETA (Beta not so much...)
It's applied by the PS2 when it detects that the DVD movie you are attempting to play is macrovision protected.
It also makes your DVD movies look like ass when you play them on certain equipment, and stops VCR pass-through from working. Of course, if you're playing movies on a PS2, you probably won't notice anything at all.
I don't use my PS2 for movies. i have a cheap DVD player for that. need to save the laser.
