What would cause a DMS3 V9 to just stop booting backups at all, but let originals continue to work, quick boot mode (for one of the kids i did an install for thats having a small problem) stays on a black screen when a game is in the drive, im just guessing hes doing something wrong.

Would the CD/DVD Wiring do this or would the BIOS wiring do this?

When a backup game boots, does it go to a black screen or does the PS2 just not read it?
I'd say look at the CDVD Wiring..

    Yeah, it's most likely that..
Though once you get the PS2, test out some PSX backups and give some results..
