DMS3 V9 Help! Drive clicks and black screen

Hey all, I'm new to the modchip install thing and I had finished putting the chip in. When I went to turn on the ps2, it acts really weird. I've installed a DMS3 V9 on a v9 PS2 (NTSC). Here are the symptoms:

-Initial power on, fan doesn't turn and drive doesn't turn
-Push reset once, fan turns on, drive tries to run
-With backup in the drive, the drive clicks three times (while trying to spin), stops, then tries again, clicking three times before eventually powering off the ps2 (red light on the reset)

-with no disc in drive, the drive clicks as well

-black screen. no logo, nothing.


Oh, and I haven't tried the romeo mod yet (is it too late??).

Any help is appreciated. I'm really frustrated at this point and I'm afraid I might have messed up the ps2 for good. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you put tape behind the metal casing so the chip does NOT touch the metal casing and cause major shorting.

Check the bios chip (chip that you had to solder point P-M) and the cd/dvd controller (aka big Sony chip, if you soldered to it) to see if there are any shortage inbetween the pins. Go over the whole entire board carefully to see if there are any solder balls or solder splashes.

Make sure all cables are properly connected.

ok i took everything apart, checked everything, put it back together and i get the same problem. So i took it apart again, unsoldered the 3.3V powering the modchip and put it back again. Nothing. Same problem cept the DVD drive is more responsive to the opening and it tries to spin for a split second. I still get a blank screen. So I think that the problem is probably with a joint that got soldered together. Anyone have any suggestions? Furthermore. anyone in the LA area (downtown) that wants to help me fix it? I'll pay if it can be fixed. Ok thanks.
