ok this one is pretty strange never had this happen with dms3 before
just did a v9 ps2 with dms3v9 last week and worked perfectly
installed this one (dms3 v9 on v10 ps2 this time) the same way as far as wire routing and when i try to boot the ps2 it looks like its authenticating properly
then u see the little flicker on the black screen as it attempts to boot and then u hear the sound that accompanies a succesful boot but nothing appears on the screen and the disc just continues spinning but no more sound is heard and the laser doesnt sound to be moving back and forth over the disc like usual as it reads just a consitent disc spinning sound and nothing more happens
the only thing that boots properly is ps1 games originals and backups
and if the chip is disabled by holding eject then original ps2 games will work properly
this ps2 was sent to me by electroman (a member of ps2newz)
after his installer backed out of the install because of the exact same problem occurring
i have tried everything including beefing up the clk,d and e wires and even x just in case
made sure to avoid placement near bga's, ground wire is about 1 cm long and is 22 awg
i have used the vias on the back for wires p-w and then tried the cd/dvd pins with the exact same result
majority of the wires i have used for the install are 30 awg but none are crossing except p-w which were also bunched together in the same way with the previous v9 i modded and worked perfectly
but p-w need to cross at some point to use the chip legs on top of the mobo
if anyone has an idea as to the problem please let me know
i have another dms3 v9 chip coming in the next week so i'll try that one if i still havent figured this out by then

    Firmware v1.7 doesn't work with v10, isn't compatible.

Its most likely a bios wire. I have had this problem. I was positive all the wires were fine and kept re-routing them and still nothing. If I removed any bios wire, the screen would come up. Finally, I just backed out of the install and did it again and it fired up. I really didn't see anything different between the working and non working install but hey, it worked the second time.

i have already reinstalled all wires 3 times trying different wire routing and wire thickness each time and still have the same result
    also the flash wont upgrade
the upgrade cd boots just like other backup games
u hear the boot logo and see nothing and the laser doesnt sound to be reading
strange that ps1 backups work though
i'll have to try the other dms3 chip when it arrives and see how it goes

tried another dms3 v9 chip in this v10 today and all is working perfectly so there must be an issue with flash 1.7 and v10 machines or this was a bad chip

    hi,

the chips with v1.7 are faulty - cannot be upgraded and have other problems as well.

I think they were meant to be a Beta version, but somehow some were released to the public for sale!!

They were all replaced in Italy by the official distributor, with new v1,8 chips.

If you look on the dms site, no mention of v1.7 whatsoever....

    hope this helps

well it sure sucks that some were released to the public
apparently the company that sold this chip (console source) wont do anything about it
they say all dms3 chips are tested and there has never been a faulty dms3 chip
if this is indeed a faultly flash then the chip should be replaced

    flash 1.7 only works in v9 ps2
i put the chip in a v9 today and it worked perfectly
so i upgraded to flash 1.8 while in the v9 and the chip now works in the version 10

I know this post is a little old but I have the same problem as psxforever. I have a Flash 1.7 installed in a v10 right now and I get exactly the same as psxforever explained. My situation is that I was sent DMS3 1.7's instead of the Magic's I ordered. So......my question. Do I need to put these Flash 1.7's into a v9 and flash them to 1.8 in order to get them to work in V10. Did I get screwed by getting these Flash 1.7's?
