DMS3 and v2 probs
How come I keep booting up to diagnostic screen after installing a dms3 chip. I put a dms3 into a v2. I keep getting the ps1 logo, then the ps2 logo and finally ask me to setup language and timezone? I had to solder like 8 wires in a row to the Cd/dvd controller. I know they aren't bridged. WTF? The only thing was wrong was the 'C' or eject point. I bridged that point. I fixed it and eliminated a confusing problem with reset/pwr and eject buttons. The two got reversed when the bridge was present. Only thing I didn't do was connect the 'X' point. I didn't want to unsolder the daughter board. Little info: It works once in a while...like I can get it to boot regular games but no backups. but most of time it behaves like above where I have to go through setup and then it won't read games period. And, the customer said he had another installer try and put an H20 and Crystal in it last week?

usually a bridged point... i'd say unsolder and restart... do everything but the dvd controller points and see if you can boot into the dms explorer via the memory card (have to have it installed on the mem card), then you know the bios points are good, then do the dvd controller points.

Yup it was the damn IC legs on the CD/DVD controller after all. Hey, but I did 8 in a row without using blue tack putty and razor. Hehe! I like the thrill. Call me adrenaline junkie. I know the seasoned installers here from back in the day will know what I'm talking about.
