Sorry for cross-posting this, but I've had my guy try for 30+ hours now and still no dice

I've had my 10000 model PS2 attempted to be modded with the DMS3v2 but what happens at boot up is that I get no authentication of any disks at all. As well, my controller doesn't work. The Analog LED will light up, but I can't use my buttons to access any of the menus.

I disable the chip, and it's working perfectly. Any ideas? Is it a faulty chip, bridged wires???

I've had him swap it out and test it with another DMS v2.0 chip and it's still the same problem.

    Thanks guys!

Sounds like a faulty install. Try checking the CD/DVD controller points on the back of the mainboard. Btw did you test the chip while disassembled or fully assembled?

When I went thru the first install mine acted the same way. I went back and made sure that X,M,D, and W were flat aginst the board. Then I switched the power and the ground wires to 20awg to make sure that enough power was coming through. I also switched the ground point to one closer to my chip instead of the one listed. Each of those little silver patches is a ground point. After I did all tthat everything worked, but I had blown the S7 fuse, but once I fixed that it was fine.

starrunner: Did you insulate the wires or somehow prevent interference because when I close the lid the chip doesnt work after a while but if its open it does. im guessing thats interference. Are you having the same problem?

You can try putting electrical tape on the PS2's metal sheeting that is above the chip. I've heard of people having the chip not work because the clock or another component on the chip is touching the ps2's metal casing. When you are talking about disabling the chip you meen booting by holding in the reset button right? If this works I would assume the solder points are allright except for the power and ground. Also triple check to make sure the right point on the chip is going to the right point on the ps2. I had this problem myself. The points on the modchip on the top and bottom have their labels to the right; on the side they are to the left. Not hard to understand but it made me dizlexik.

    Xerogen,
I didn't have that problem. I would go with Rigz. Make sure that nothing is coming in contact with the chip or the metal casing around the PS2.

DMS3 is a very power hungry chip, most problems are with interference on D and E and too long Ground wires.

you could do the messiah 2 clock wrapping technique for D and E. I.e wrap them in a wire and ground that wire at each end, that should help with the interference.

Well the guy that I sent it to be installed has now given up on it. I'll try all the suggestions you guys have given to me, but here is an update on the situation. It seems like the controller does work to select which mode to boot in, but as soon as it gets to the menu screen, the controllers stop to work.

Again, disable the chip and everything functions normally.

    Any other ideas?
