  1. #1 Question DMS3 PS1 CDR Fail to Load
    megaone Guest
I have a PS2 v7 with DMS3 v2 and Bios 1.8. All PS2 DVD/CD original and backup load fine, but PS1 games fail to load (Only have Backup- no originals). I check my X cable to verify installation and re-attach it 3 times with no luck. It goes to the browser and thinks that is an audio CD. Any ideas?

Sounds like you are not getting it into PS1 mode correctly.

A PS1 disc in a PS2 in PS2 mode thinks its an audio CD.

Ok, let review this, because I think I am doing everything right. This is my System:

    PS2 V7
    DMS3 v2 with Bios 1.8
    Maxtor 40G HD

    PS2 DVD Original ? OK
    PS2 DVD Backup ? OK
PS2 CDR Original ? Not Tested
    PS2 CDR Backup ? OK

PSX CDR Original ? Not Tested
PSX CDR Backup ? System thinks that are audio CD. System is reset with the O press in the control but minutes after inserting the backup browser shows up.

    DMS Devolution ? OK
    DVD Video ? Not Tested

Fast PS2 Boot (Select) ? OK
DMS Explorer v2 (Start) ? OK
    Stealth - OK

So if the problem is how I boot up my unit, what is the process? All PS1 backups work fine in my PS1.

Put PS1 in drive. Go to standby. Press and hold O when you power on the PS2.

If that doesn't work then it almost has to be the X line not in the right spot or something.

I followed the DM3 instruction picture to attach the X wire to the left site.

I did it with the CD inside. No luck!

    Any other suggestion?

    Thanks!

I think I found my problem in another board. This maybe my problem, remember this backup are made couple of year ago.

"I had mine modded with a DMS3 and thought I had the exact same problem with PS1 games. After taking it back to the vendor that installed the chip, he showed me that it worked after all and it had to do with my burn. I would typically either get the red screen or the explorer showing the disc, but never booting from the backup.

It turns out that for some reason, if I dumped my original PS1 disc to an image file on my computer (using the "save track" option in Nero), then reburned it, it wouldn't work at all. However, if I did a direct disc-to-disc burn from my original, then the backup would work okay. "

I will try this and let everyone know!

If you use the save track option, it will not work. Make a Disk Copy and everything will work fine.
