DMS3 problems –
03-25-2007,10:50 PM
Hello everyone,
I have the very first version of the DMS3, never had any issues with it until now. I haven't touched my ps2 for about half a year. Decided to play again today...but when I go to boot a dvd backup, it didn't want to boot. So I try another game...same thing. Try a original dvd, still no go. So I put the chip into sleep mode, and bingo, the original boots no issues. Reset and try the backup again, and again no go. I've tried flashing to a different firmware, no go either. So I take the ps2 apart to check the connects with a multimeter, everything checks out. Put it back together and try again. Still no good. Resoldered the chip with new wires, checked connects again with multimeter. While I'm at it I change the laser (have a couple of new ones). But still no booting backups. Originals are ok as long as the chip is in sleep mode. Backups spin up, then completely stop and the music player comes up. Could it be that the chip died? Why would it die just from not playing the system for so long? If anyone has any ideas on what to try let me know. Thanks.
