I have done a v7 and v9 with DMS3 chips (v2 and v9), but in both cases the joypads do not work - the game boots fine, but then the analogue light of the pads come on and they no longer work.

I have tried in both ports and with other pads, but still the same result.

    Any ideas?

I don't think any of the cables are broken etc.

If you removed the Flat cable during modchip Installation maybe you damaged it when you inserted back in place.

Remove it again and check carefully the pins to see if anyone of them is damaged.

The pad in port 1 didn't work with IJ Emperors Tomb (US DVD-R), but the port in 2 did. This problem was both on two UK v7 machines (DMS 3 and Matrix MXL 2).

Like above, check the wire cable connecting the Joypad to the PS2 motherboard.

Many times when you insert it back you can damage it, or you can brake one of the wire in the middle of the cable.

Use a multimeter to check cable continuity.

The problem still exists when the chip is in sleep mode, but works OK with PS1 and DIVX...?????

Could i have messed up a point (checked and redone twice!), or do you think its the cables.

    Thanks

It would be worth checking. If you have another working PS2, easiest thing is to take the good cable out of that and try it in the bad system. You can at least rule that out easily...

Before anything else get a multimeter and check that cable.

Even better do like madisonmods says, get a cable from another PS2 and test it.

    Hi,
checked cables and they seem ok. What is strange is that 2 out of the 3 mods I did have the same exact problem.

Does the dms have some kind of bug?
