DMS3 install gone wrong?
DMS3 install gone wrong? –
K, finished my first attempt at a DMS3 install on my v7. I actually swapped it out with my apple chip that was in it, making sure to change/add the points as needed for the DMS3.
Anyhow, the job looks really sloppy, mostly from the way the apple was put in (premod), but it looks like all the points are making the right contacts correctly (despite the tip that was too big on the soldering iron ).
NOw I just get the 'red screen' when i load a PS2 copy (DVD-R is all ive tried) , but originals play fine. Any idea where I could have gone wrong? Can anyone confirm where the point is for the 3.3v? it looked iffy in the pic on dms3.com.
Well, thanx to all that emailed me. I 'm going to test some connections at the dvd/cd controller with a multimeter over the weekend. I think I may end up taking everything off and starting over, making it a much neater job.
BTW, anyone know how to get some sloppy solder of points? I fear that two points on the bios chip are bridged. The hot glue needs to come off to, hopefully a razor will get it without cutting any tracks.
Any additional suggestions/help are apprecieated
dont use a razor to remove the glue.. just use cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol .. soak the glue and it will almost fall off.
Thanks, another thing i just found out. It will play original PS2 games still, but only for about 10 minutes and then it just quits working. Any idea what would cause this?
ANybody? I just want to make sure this isn't a sign of permanent damage
hey what did people tell you to do to fix the red screen... I have the same problem
well, a number of things. Make sure that Dand E are not crossed. Double check C. Double check power and ground. Check for solder bridges. Check CD/DVD controller.
You will never get just one answer. A fuse on my board blew shortly after, so now Im just parting out the system.
10 minutes? do you mean the ps2 just shuts off?
it's your fan or something then, if it turns off after 10 minutes then there's an overheat.
yeah, it was the fan, i found that out a long time ago, just forgot to update the post
