Sorry for the post, I tried searching and couldn't come up with much

    heres the problem:
Installed a Duo chip in a V5, worked for 5min and craped out on me (black screen) checked all fuses, BA chip etc all good. Swaped out the chip for another one. Opening screen came up but wouldn't not play back ups.

Now I took the chip out totaly and it wont boot anything... Eject/reset works, opening screen comes up but the disk keeps spinning like it cant find the starting point?

I cleaned the laser before I started, do you think it needs to be adjusted?

no no and no sounds like a short where is it that's the ? check all soldered points and near by for shards of solder were talking small here oh and the ba can crap out even when the fuse is fine and pin 8 doesnt short to ground.

the black screen you encountered seems like install problems especially when removed and with another mod install you can get to browser

wierd cause the black screen came up after playing for 5min... and what do you mean by "pin 8 doesnt short to ground." But it doest sound like its a BA problem.

I'm going over each point with magnifying glass and solder wick, I'll let you know the outcome.

100% right again EnTiTy... Dont know exactly where I went wrong or bridged (couldn't see it with the magnifying glass) but I used some solder braid, a tooth brush and some bio clean and it seems to boot like normal again.

I've only done V7's up to this point and never had a problem, this V5 is giving me a hell of time.

Glad to hear you sorted it i try to help where i can
reguarding the ba chip when it blows totally pin 8 shorts to ground and it causes the symptom you described but it pointed to a short when you got browser.

them pesky little shards even under a mag glass are hard to see ive scoured boards for days
