Disc Read Error

Ok guys how do I fix this? I am trying to put a dms3 in a v7 ps2. I figured out the black screen and got dvd drive working. It used to boot to browser and say no data w/ a cd in and a mem card in. The pins on the metal shield were grounding the dvd controller wires. So with that fixed, it now boots browser and shows a mem card and lets me browser it but when I put an original and backups in it makes a wierd noise and keeps trying and trying to load then says disc read error. Anyone know how to fix this? All help is greatly appreciated.

Prolly the disk cables aren't properly connected or the BIOS wires might be bridged.

Charlie im having the simular problems sorry to jump in the thread. Mine seems to be ok, you put disk in and it says No data after the disk not spinnin for more than a second. Any help ?

Well I checked all wires and ribbons. No bridges and everything is plugged in as far as I can tell. Anything else? Please let me know I need to fix this asap. I just went through and redid all the points w/ some of this Oatey No. 5 Soldering Paster which says it cleans-fluxes. Now all the points are nice and shiny like they should be but I still get the read errors.

My friend's v5 ps2 had the same problem (disc read error) with most games (some games worked after a minute or two of reading). All he did was clean the laser and the problem went away.
