Disc Read Error !!
That is what it says when i try to load up ANY type of disc i just got my Magic2 pre-modded PS2 this morn and it Dont work 4 shit PS2 Backups ...NO
PS1 Backups ...NO
PS2 Import orig ...NO
DVD movie ...NO and i tried 3 different ones
BTW.....is this how the games are meant to work from Standby - A single tap of Reset to boot PS2
A hold on reset till the blue light comes on 4 Ps1_+DVDs
But every time i try to boot a game or film i get the screen with 2 options on one of which is Browser if i click on that to see if the ps2 can even read the disc, and it says DISC READ ERROR i think it could be a laser related issue, coz in a norm PS2 if you put a backup in you get the RED SCREEN dont you, its wrong i bought a premodded system to save me arsing about !!!!! PLZ can someone help me BTW. Its supposed to be a Brand new V7 system.

DISC READ ERROR
Even The friggin' Demo Disk that comes with the system wont load I wish i had ordered about 5-6 weeks ago from LIK-SANG

Wow, big surprise there...an original disk that was designed to work with the PS2 doesn't after it has been modded with a Magic II. Finally, some legitimate validation for what I have been trying to tell people forever.....the Magic II is a buggy peice of crap!!!!!
Hey, try this....lift the reset wire from the Magic II then try your original disk. I will bet a year's salary that it works perfectly. Then re-connect the reset wire and watch how it will no longer boot. All this and there was no laser this and laser that involved...only the connection to the Magic II.
The prosecution rests, sir.........

isnt lik sang was only selling apple premod instead of magic ??????
-
Actually Lik-Sang don't sell premodded PS2's anymore :(
The problem you are having is either a problem with the laser or Magic 2 connections A-I. If you purchased it premodded, then you should contact the retailer to repair/replace the unit.
-
Here we go with laser this laser that....HOW CAN IT BE A LASER PROBLEM WHEN IT IS A BRAND NEW PREMOD!!!!!!!
-
That's why I also said poor connections to A-I or it could be long/thin wires to GND, 3.3v and 5v.
In any case, you should return it to the installer.

I have sent it back now and this morn i got a new unit, everything runs flawlessly and i even tried downloading SNES-station for anyone who hasn't tried it yet its good fun.
BTW I have read threads about people soldering extra capacitors onto their PS2 boards coz V7 (apparently) jerks during DVD playback with a magic2 installed
Heres the solution all you need 2 do is put yer film into the drive leaving the draw open, then press and hold reset until the drive starts 2 close, it will go into standby, then press and hold reset again until the blue drive light comes on and release, simple as !!!
enjoy the film without skips and without opening up your system again.:-)
