Disabling Smartchip pro to play online
Disabling Smartchip pro to play online –
01-20-2004,01:06 PM
I have a smartchip pro installed in a friend's console, and I install them in the local area. One of the questions being asked is: Can I play online with this chip?
First Question: Can the smartchip be put into "sleep" or "disable mode"? The reason I ask is to play online original games? If so, how?
Second: Can you boot a backup, and then somehow turn off the chip to go online, ie, a switch? If so, where can I find instructions on how to hook it up etc?
Third: What about backups that were made b4 2003 online. What about games which say 2k3 on em (eg. Madden 2k3). Can they be played online (original and backup) because they were made b4 the DNAS protection? What about the DNAS protected games, can originals be played with chip disabled?
Thanks for all info.

First: (Pretty sure) Hold reset until the blue eject light comes on
Second: Nope
Third: Some older games can be played with backups. For newer games you need the original and have the chip disabled to play online.

There probably is a way to fit a switch on the smart chip but you won't be able to use it to play online like you were saying
