i was looking on the web for fixes and i can across some diode PCB boards to help protect the laser.

i saw this on the website modchipstore.com under repair parts.

i was wondering if this is a good alternative to the summones fix? does this part actually work

No it provides very little, if any protection for the laser, stick with Summ0ne and you won't go far wrong (If you bothered to use search you would have found this anyway)
    Tired, so very tired

I'm surprise with your success with those things. I've heard of many pstwos burning out with those. That's why the Matrix Team had to revise it and add the extra pic fix to it.

are they really bad? should I rather use summones fix?
