I followed the diagrams on this forum here for version seven ps2 with 1.1 crystal chip.

    www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25728

Then i went to crystal chips main site after i got my ps2 back together and was having problems and noticed that their diagram is different!

    http://www.crystal-chips.com/documen...11/cc11_v7.jpg

the TO is in a different location, will this affect anything?
There is an aditional connection that looks like HA, what is this for and should it be connected!?

    Thanks.

damnit, lol. i have to open the whole thing up again. Is that TO or HA point going to really matter?

    edit

    ok
i have some questions for you or anyone, i'm a little confused as to what i did wrong except not install the HA point.

After doing everything according to the diagram on this forum for the 1.1 chip i boot up and it acts like a normal ps2.

So i downloaded the cc firmware from this page
    http://crystal-chips.com/main/conten...28/43/lang,en/

ran makeit and burned the resulting image to a cd. Ps2 still won't regoznize it or anything i place in the drive that's not original, it goes to the red screen with a very discouraging moaning sound, lol. (although, the upgrade instructions on the site say this builds the 1.0 firmware? huh?)

is there anything else i need to "do" to the chip, like some special way of flashing it or some controller button combination to make it boot? i couldn't find documentation on it, although i admit i've been hasty in my searches.

Boot it up and look at the troubleshoot LED on the chip

LED blinks once on boot = fine
LED stays lit = wrong installation of BIOS wire
LED blinks once but doesn't boot backups = wrong installation of CDVD wires

Yes install those points, thats probably your problem

right with you. Decided to go ahead and take it apart and it blinks once and doesn't boot games like it says on the crystal chip site, so that's prolly the problem. It's much easier the second time, i put a large peice of carboard under it to boot it while in peices and transport it back and fourth.
