i need to know if i have a v4 or a v5 so i can download the right diagram for my matrix infinity...

Check out this page and compare the pictures closely to your board. There should be some difference(s) if you look close enough. Forget about the fact that its a duo page, just check out the pics of the boards.

It's a v5, there are no 30001 "R" that are v4.

I'm sorry but you are incorrect in that statement. I have seen quit a few V4's that had the scph 30001 R model number.
Look here to determine what you have http://www.norcalmods.com/view_doc.php?view_doc=9
Or better yet open it up and look at the board like nickbuhl said. You will notice major differences.

I've never encountered one, so I'll trust your words for it then. Sorry for the incorrect statement.

One bios chip has the gap and the other doesn't. Look at the install diagram and compare.

how are you guys securing the mod chip to the board? velcro? double sided tape? hot glue?

I use double sided tape to attach my chip to the board - if you don't have any, you can just make an inside out loop of normal tape.
You could also use hot glue, but get the chip as close to the board as you can.
