Last night i installed my D M S 4 mod, and except for point X, everything else went smoothly. Once it was all done i loaded it up, put in the ***** BIOS cd and flashed the new BIOS.

I then played GTA:SA for a bit (about 10 minutes) did a couple of resets to make sure it was all working ok, and then went to bed.

So thismorning i go to turn on the unit, and it boots up. However, the DVD drive doesn't detect that there is a disc in it. The mod is still working because if i hold Square it'll take me to the ***** config menu, and if i hold L1 it'll disable the mod.

I looked at the DVD lens and it's fine, nothing wrong with it. I also opened up the unit to check for any loose wires or cables, and everything seems to be in place.

So does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I'm using the Matrix PIC fix and summ0ne's fix. Like i said, everything boots up fine, except for the DVD drive not reacting at all. It doesn't spin, it doesn't attempt to read, it does nothing.

So i'm wondering if it could possibly be a fuse or possibly the coils. Which fuses should i be checking? and how can i test the coils to make sure they are alright? (yes i have a multimeter)

I also had the summ0ne fix running for over a week without a chip installed. I also tested the Matrix PIC and it shut down my system like it was supposed to. So they weren't installed incorrectly.

I just did a multimeter test on the coils.

My focus coil reads as 6.2 ohms and the tracking reads as 5.8

Are these within normal levels? or am i pretty much in the shit?

Sounds like the fuse that does the drive motor is dead. I think that's like PS14 or something.

Try reading teh demo online disc that comes with the pstwo and see if it recognises cd media, i had a unit that only read cd media after install and woudl never read dvd media.

Maybe make sure diodes installed proper direction ( note: cathode )

Well i got the DVD drive to work. I re-routed the Q point a different way because i noticed the wire had been crushed as the heatshields were being put on.

BUT, now the drive makes horrible gridning noises and refuses to read anything at all. This is turning into a nightmare.

you really have to watch out for crushed wires in these V12s - Happened to me earlier on too, spent ages trying to figure out where the problem was. best thing is to do each installation EXACTLY the same.

what the hell does the q wire do?

I have never seen it before. It comes from the mechacon, so crushing it might have killed it
