detecting mod chip
Hi i hope this is the right place to ask...Well my question is....is there anyway to dectect what mod chip i have with out opening it...i bought my ps2 over a yr ago I say about 2 the most....and it was pre-modded and i moved so it was in storage and i finally found it and tried to play some old games i had that came with it from my dealer that were backups/ also imports and they work i tried burning a couple of back ups and it didnt work so i was thinking maybe i need to upgrade the firmware but in order to do that i need to figure out what kind of chip it is......im looking for any ways except for opening up even though i may have to take this route....or buy a new ps2.....
edit: and if it helps the model of my ps2 is scph-39001
another question if my ps2 has already been modded and i wanted to buy a different chip would i be able to remove the 1st one and put a new one?
afraid the only best way would be to open it up and check. yip could replace the chip if you wanted to, but we warned, its not a easy job to do it yourself. if you've never done it before your better off taking it to get it done somewhere.
im alright with taking things apart and i did but the only thing i hate is not having the tools....i just need the small screw driver but i found one from my brothers glasses..i have dou ....
