Dest chip that can play Divx

iv been looking round the forum and see you can play divx movies with you ps2. what chip handels the divx playback the best?

I believe it's not a question of the chip, but rather the application. You need to have PS2Reality Mediaplayer installed. So, the chips that can interact with the memory card are the Infinity, the D M S, Crystal, and I think the Ghost 2. Then with the Mediaplayer installed to the memory card (or from boot disc), your divx should work.

I haven't done this myself, so hopefully someone can verify my answer.

so the matrix infinity homebrew will do? or is the CRYSTAL chip better for the player?

Well this forum has a bootman megapack for crystal. It includes ps2reality player. The matrix infinity will work too once you have flashed the firmware and have installed infinity manager. I would go with crystal chip because of that bm mega pack v2.0. It's in the news section of this forum. Make sure you get the hacked firmware for it so you can also boot backups. I hope this helps.

Consider the O2mod as a good alternative for DivX Playback.Not only it has the DEV mode of the other chips but it also Autolaunches the Mediaplayer when a Divx or Mp3 disc is inserted without any user interaction.Also with the O2LOader it is the ONLY sollytion for Ps2reality From USBStick.

P.S:THe ghost 2 does not have a DEV feature.It can like any other standar chip load the player with a MediaplayerCD.

actually Launch elf can load from mass !

i would still suggest an o2 mod chip, personally i like it alot

but it has not been tested alot with us consoles (they are working on ntsc version)

It is very good tho

Correct..Also Keylauncher can launch from mass.I was just trying to point the ISO emulation from Usb. :>
