    Hello,

I'm going to be paying an electrical engineer I know to install a mochip for the ps2 for me - mostly because the sheer number of solder points scares me to death.

Either way, I searched the site for a tutorial on what modchips are available right now but came up empty handed.

What modchip would the community recommend for a v4-5 ps2? (and more specifically, why?)

The installer seems to prefer Magic V but didn't mention why...

Nothing wrong with the Magic V... solid chip. BUT, a tougher install than the Matrix... I think 3 more wires too.

Ummmm... just curious, what makes you think an electrical engineer can put a modchip in? Has he done them before? I ask, because I've had several electricians bring me their consoles... too afraid to do the job once they got into it. Be careful... engineers are not modders, by nature.

Well, this guy said that he has 20 years of soldering experience, and I read 3 seperate reviews of his work on a different forum - all positive.

Plus, he offered to do my Xbox for free!

Total cost - $60 plus modchips.

Ripoff. You can get it done by me for $45(return shipping included)+modchip. I hope he guarantees his work.

Again, just because you know how to solder doesn't mean you know how to troubleshoot and install modchips.
