Ok installed my dms3 in v5 (after 2 powercuts and 3 days, lol) checked over all points, SEEMED to be secure and no bridges, so put it all together and switched it on... success I havnt destroyed it step 2, try an original, Success DVD and CD games work fine, now for a backup ... nope... Red 'please insert a ps2 disc' screen displayed, tried upgrade , same screen... so i belive this means it doesnt think its installed at all....

Right, I opened it up and found Point R had come away , so I fixed that right up and tested, PS2 didnt read any disks, opened up again and secured the connections at the side of the board, tested and same problem as before PS2 games and Dms upgrade dont work.

I have not ground wrapped wires d and e, because I dont know how, although I think i know what you mean, you'll have to explain in more detail and why too....

O looks fine and W too... No bridges and all wires seem soldered securly

take 3 wires and twist them together , 1 wire goes to d, 1 to e , and the other to ground on both ends .

But why does this help the ps2 authentication? I like to know... Because I've run out of wire, so if you think i can fix it without the ground twist it would be great, but i still want to know WHY you need the ground twist. Any Pictures too will help.

its stops interfierence between either board ground bounce or other wire's the wires mentioned are sensitive to these problems.

Ok well since i have run out of wire could insulation tape do the trick too, no wait ive run out of that too....

Ok so you think that its simply the interferance and couldnt possibly be anything else???? 100%... (assuming all my points are correct and soldered perfectly) answer below if you thinks so..

Because I know that my D & E wire could be crossing over other wires, it was a bit tricky to get the buggers flat on the mobo, you reckon carefull repositioning will sort it out without a ground wrap?

I will try and post some pics after next time i open it up.
