damaged HD7 laser for V9

Hi,

I have damaged HD7 laser for V9. Can I change it with some other model 400c, 400b....with, or without modification of the ps2 motherboard. I tried 400c without modification of the board, but it's not working.

you need to change it with a open faced laser, you cannot replace with a khs-400c/b/a

he can but then he needs to mod the mobo to take the 400c

I know some people have done it they change a resistor or something

thats only on a version 5/6 board, i dont think it can be done on a v9/10.

Chipdealer, are you sure about that. I did that on V5 board and it worked great, but I don't have any picture that shows that it can be done on V9. Do you have instructions ?

you cant do it on a v9 because pin 73 of the mechacon is constantly tied to 3.5v and to remove it you would need to remove the mechacon to pull it low.
