Curious problem with a G2V2 chipped PS2 Slim
A friend recently sold me his PAL PS2 Slim (v12). I was aching to play some Chrono Cross, but much to my dismay the signal the PS2 sends to my (PAL) TV is interlaced. To verify this was not something inherent to CC I also booted the game on my brother's chipped PAL PS1 and PS2 (MI) and sure enough those systems' output a NTSC signal with scanlines.
I asked my friend how I could get into the modchip's config menu, but he couldn't tell me. After opening my new PS2 Slim to check what chip it's outfitted with I noticed a Ghost 2 V2 chip is installed. I tried Googling how to fix my interlace problem, but to no avail. Documentation on the G2V2 chip seems scarce. So I hope somebody here can help me out. I'll summarize my problem below as detailed as possible.
Model: PAL PS2 Slim
Modchip: Ghost 2 V2
Problem: NTSC PS1 games are displayed in a interlaced signal, causing a shimmering effect on my television
Notes: PAL PS1 games display deinterlaced with scanlines. Low-res PS2 games also display with scanlines, regardless of region.
Prefered Solution: Force the modchip to display NTSC PS1 games in their native resolution, preferably through the config menu or a button combination during startup. I don't know how to access the modchip's config menu, so I can't adjust any settings. In case that there is no config menu, maybe the chip's firmware can be flashed?
Any help you guys would be able to provide me would be much appreciated!
