    I am trying to decide on a modchip for a v9/v10 PS2.
So far I am considering the Matrix Infinity and the Crystal chip with the hacked firmware (copying for personal use is still 100% legal in Canada)

Can anyone please tell me what are the main differences between these two chips?

What are the stong and weak points of each?

    Thanks,
    Alex.

I'd like to hear some of these answers as well. I've been through all the posts and I'm still stuck with deciding btw the Infinity and the Crystal. Although I have to say the Crystal is looking better every day.

Crystal needs a hacked firmware, whereas both MI firmwares are available for download from their website.

Crystal supports RCE protected DVDs, MI says they'll add that support in the future.

The Crystal Boot Manager can completely replace the normal PS2 interface, making some opperations quicker, running memorycard apps easier, and adding alot to the "cool-factor".

I stock both chips in my shop. I must say they are both great chips. Blow The DM5 out of the water. Lately, the crystal chip has been updated alot more than the infinity. It makes things very exciting.

I am really impressed with the crystal chip. And it comes with a sticker (like the pentium stickers on PC's). Thats just plain cool, and a nice touch too.

Look for pics of my Crystalized PSTwo to be up in the future. Ive got a nice little case mod in mind.

This can be an issue or not, depending on the hacked firmware availability and how easy the Crystal team makes hacking their firmware.
