I installed a crystal chip and everything appers ok as far as the install. But when I boot the ps2 I get the ps2 bios and I can't run the crystal chip firmware. This seems like and install problem any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated.

What do you mean you "get the PS2 bios"? Does it act like it's a new system every time you turn it on (i.e. set time, etc)? If so, you have some points bridged around the bios chip.
Unless you give more a more specific description, noone is going to be able to guess now you botched the install. Buy a multi-meter and a magnifying glass and start checking your points. Don't forget to check for short circuits and solder bridges on adjacent points
I found something strange looking at the bios. The board is labled GH-022 However there is a gap in the bios which doesn't match the diagram I am installing from?!
That's no problem on the V7, wire it the same. Unless... are you not in the US? You may have a V8.
