Modded v9 with a dms..... but not very well it would seem.

Upon reset I get a lovely crunchy laser sound and doesnt boot.

my theory is that is having trouble moving up & down the tracks for some reason, so i may need to lube it up, what do you think??

I don't think it's the laser need of lube. I mean this PS2 works fine before you modded it right?

Yes thats right, perfectly.. its late now im will open it up tommorow.. But it is a load judder/stutter tutting sound...

I was very cautious with the install because its a mates ps2, I will take some piccies when I open it up to post though so you peeps can take a look. I thought it could be the laser track because i did have a bit of trouble pushing the cables back in to the connectors, if one of them wasnt in secure enough would that cause the noise?

That's a possibility. How did you remove the laser's ribbon cable?

I re-opened it up, checked the ribbon cable, they all seem to be alright...put back together making sure all cable were firmly pushed in and same result.

I removed it my simply unclicking the latches on either side of the cable at the laser and pulling it out.
