Hey everybody! This is the first day I registered and my first thread here

Here's the issue I am facing; I just installed a MagicV in my V5 console. All wires are as short as possible and laying flat on the motherboard. The R wire is away from others and it is shielded. Also none of the bios wires cross each other. So, my install looks pretty OK However, I am still having this red screen issue. With different DVD backups tried, assuming PS2 is off and the disc is in, first boots are usually fine. When playing the game, I put another game disc and hit reset button the boot is sometimes successful or ends up with the red screen. And Let's assume after changing the game with a reset hit, it boots fine the third change of game will definitely end with red screen. After that, continious resets will not change the result. The only way to get rid of this is to turn off the console and on again. To be clear; first boots are ok but resets after that will end up with red screen.

I tried this with many different games but always got the same results. Also, with originals after a few resets I get black screen after Sony boot screen instead of red invalid disc screens seen with backups.

So, do you guys have any suggestion for me? Is there any points I should be checking or anything else?

Thanks in advance and have a good one you all!....

I believe you but the point is that I don't backup them myself. And since the first boots are usually fine my install seems OK, right?

Yes, but like I said the chip is picky you may get 2 to 3 boots just fine but the other times it may not boot. Tell whoever backs your games up to use different media.

heh, I didn't think a chip was picky with media. Usually I think it comes down to a laser issue. If the backups you're using are white top discs, buy a verbatim or a ritek blank disc and get the person to burn a backup on that.

I would also like to add that I have seen this on DMS3 modded PS2s. just go in standby and tap reset. never did figure out the problem, kinda went away after firmware update
