confused on version/where to put chip
confused on version/where to put chip –

I'm just about to install my modchip, and I wanna double check about what version my PS2 is
It is
SCPH 30001 R
8 screws and electrical warning on bottom
date code: 1C
serial number begins with U0
I was also confused about the gap/no gap bios, whats the difference, how do I tell?
One last thing, does it matter where I place the chip on the motherboard?

It's more than likely a V4. You need to open up the PS2 itself and actually take a look at the BIOS chip to determine if it's a gap or no gap. If it's a gap BIOS, you will see four sets of legs on the chip (separated by two gaps, hence the name), whereas on a no gap you'll only have an uninterrupted set of legs.
As for position, I only have my opinion and I always put it near a good grounding point, whether the one given by the chip instructions or the copper strip on the edge of the motherboard.

Thanks alot! But I got from some other people that it was a v5, so now I'm confused, any more opinions would be great, thanks

No they're not. V5/6 are nearly identical. But the V4 and V5 are completely different.
