I heard its junk. It is not good for console mod installation. I have heard the tip breaks easily. Use a regular 15 watt iron.

    Hi
neat little soldering iron but I wouldn't use it to mod. Tip is a little bulky and is carbon and breaks easily. Fast and good for bigger stuff but not mods.

As previously stated, the tip is much too big, it breaks easy.. not worth it. 7.99 at radioshack, 15W iron. works perfectly.

Radio Shack has become a rip off in the past decade or so. Go to a real electronics supply store and you'll pay half that for a 15-watt iron

i have heard that the cold to hot soldering irons can cause a static charge which may damage your system.

you might even be able to find an iron at a hardware store. lowes or home depot...

Radio Shack has always been a rip off...... but in my town is sometimes the only option...

As for the ColdHeat.. how exactly does it work.... I've seen the comercials and such and thought about getting one to mod with... but someone mentioned static...

one of my friends used one to mod his ps2 and there was a static discharge that was visible to his system and it never turned on again. for modding stick to a standard soldering iron
