    Hello,

I installed neo2.2 and it was perfect for a year. I always had it vertically placed. then one day I tried double swapping with devil may cry and it starts clicking when i inserted the dvd disc. the only way to make it stop clicking was to put the machine upside down while being vertical. it clicks for a long period at any other positions. Playing a orig is ok since after a long clicking it would always work. but the delay screws up the double swap timing.

I tried greasing the rails, bending the plastic tab down on the snake motor. The only thing left to check is perhaps the kill switch on the spindle is twitchy (or dead) and it doesn't stop the laser assembly.

My laser is perfect since I've never gotten a single DRE, just the clicking.

    Any ideas??

The clicking is caused from the laser trying to focus. Its either dirty or the laser is starting to go.

If the clicking seems to be get worser over time, you might want clean the whole laser mechanism as well. All the cogs, pivots, everything in fact, I had a v7 that made aweful noises and wouldn't boot up. Turned out that it was really just dust, cleaned it and even added fresh oil, machine oil of course which is used to reduced friction.
