Choosing a chip –
08-24-2003,05:41 PM
Hey all, Ive recently been looking to get a chip for my PS2 but have a few questions. You see, I do work for a game review website and the only reason I would need a chip would be to run preview code. Im also looking for something that is relatively easy to install, im not afraid of soldering but I dont like the idea of soldering 28 wires.
So, in short, it just has to be able to run preview code and has to be fairly easy to install. Other than that, I really dont care about price as long as it works. Any suggestions?

magic3.1 is probably the cheapest no swap solution to what you would need. If you are gonna be using backups or just dont want that mod, I suggest the DMS3, it is 23 wires and although can be tricky to install (just follow the rules on DMS3.com) but it works GREAT when done right.
Solderless Mods and Flip tops are like tampons, every pussy needs one!

Magic 3.1 sucks. Get a DMS3, Messiah 2, or Apple Pro.

Thanks for the response guys, I appreciate it.
Are the USB /no solder mods worth a second look? I mean, I like the ease of installation, but I dont want to get stuck with something that barely functions, or doesnt function at all.

The no solder mods can only boot DVD based games using a swap method.

forget magic and all its crap clones like apple, etc etc
get the DMS3 2.0 from www.foundmy.com a very legit site and the cheapest price for DMS3. It's the best mod out there. Flash upgradable and Macrovision off with more to come.

Anyone else used that foundmy.com site? That price is very attractive, almost half that of other sites, which makes me a bit leery.
