On your news page you guys called it a US-JAP Messiah. I think you all are mis-reading what thier site says. It says a NEW Chip design with US and JAP in mind. That would mean this is a PAL chip aswell, also implieing that it is not a Messiah, but a whole different Design, ofcoarse we will have to wait and see but that how I am reading it, and how I think they mean it to be read.

and then again, perhaps you've misread things into that as US and JAP machines both utilize the same NTSC video format (i.e. neither are PAL)...

"For our JAP and USA friends, we know you have been wondering where your support has been.

We are announcing a new design release this month, and we have not missed you on this occasion !"

so will it be just an announcment of the new design this month or the actual release of the chip this month? as one can see, the wording is pretty awful.

Yeah, and I remeber 8 months ago when they claimed that they were coming out with a NTSC version. There has always been more hype around the messiah than the second coming of Christ!

Can you feel the vapourware? Dig it baby!

When did I say anything about US-JAP PS2s beeing pal? WTF. What I said has nothing to do with video formats.

Didn't they already implement a new design to add support for v7 into the current PAL solution? This also had alternate installation diagrams but was never officially released.

Necro, I think your original post is correct in so far as the G-man actually releases the thing. In the current Messiah, PAL/NTSC is an irrelevance - that is down tothe PS2.

Messiah is supposed to work like this (ish) if all coded components are correct:
    1. It holds code segments to deal with the various BIOSs and the different SCEx codes & Region checks
    2. It is fitted with straps that are configured (bridged) according to PS2 region (for the right SCEx code/region check).
    3. It is fitted with straps that are configured (bridged) according to PS2 type like V5, V4, V3 (for the right BIOS mapping).
    4. When fitted, code entry ponts and BIOS recognition strings are accessed from the Messiah according to what the straps indicate.
    5. The BIOS is patched appropriately at the right point to report that the disk in the tray meets requirements. Not quite as simple as that because the Messiah has to read and understand what the PS2 has discovered when booting the disk so that Messiah knows what type of disk it is so that the correct patch is applied.

So if the Messiah has correct code for all the BIOSs and regions, it will be US/JAP/PAL compatible.
