???
Boot dvd? Laser should ok, check modchip. I have meet many these problems when I using duo2se.
it is a Duo2SE that I'm using, how do I get around this problem?
Do DVD-R?s go to RSOD (Red Screen Of Death) or do they read error/ no data?
Do Original DVD games boot or go to Red Screen Of Death with chip enabled (normal boot)?
If originals RSOD then the chip is installed wrong. If originals boot fine then the chip is working and the laser does not read DVD-R?s good enough to boot.
I?ve installed plenty of Duo2SE, they DO NOT have issues with DVD-R?s, and they have a better boot rate than some other chips like the Magic 5.
DVD originals - work
CD-r back ups - work
DVD backups - browser screen (disc stops spinning)
This is a suppose to be a new laser, yet giving me the same issues as the old one? could this be a refurb? its a green bottom but I did not have to desolder the 2 points.
Chinchilla, I am having the same exact problem. All of my CD-R's boot, Have it being older ps2 games (backup and original) and Ps1 games (backups and original). Also, my original ps2 games boot.
Everytime I put in a backup dvd-r game, it stays at the browser. Although once it came up to the red screen when I was using Ritek G03's.
Media I have tried...
1) Memorex DVD-R
2) Taiyo Yuden DVD-R(yes it is real)
3) Maxell DVD +R
4) Ritek w/ G03
I have another v7 ps2 w/ a duo2se and it boots everything up fine? And yes I did the work myself.
Any ideas?
P.S. This is a version 4 ps2...
The problem is the laser or White Cog alignment. It doesn?t sound like you received a new laser to me. I have a few lasers here that refuse to read DVD-r. That is one of the first things to go when lasers get old and weak. If it was a 400C I could tell you to Check the DVD POT but Sanyo lasers are very particular about what position the Pot needs to be set. If it was me I?d run Lenschanger and get a 400C put in.
If you do have a working 400C or even 400B that you know for sure will read a DVD-R, you can swap it in and test it and it should boot up after spinning a few times, even without using Lenschanger.
So your saying it is probably a laser problem compared to a chip problem. If I swapped a 400C laser in my v4 ps2, would that most likely fix the problem? Which laser reads backup dvd-r's more efficiently? I am assuming the 400C?
yes 400c are the best lasers you can get for the ps2
