all cd's booted before removing the Z point only the cd tray would not close (had to closes it by hand).

Removing the Z point has fixed the cd tray, but psx cdr do not boot and I think its now b&w on usa games etc.

Any ideas (is it a clone), but everthing was working fine apart from the cd tray. is there another point for the Z wire???

If PS1 backups don't play but PS2 backups do then it's likely that you have disturbed your S wire. The Z wire is not related.

The B&W problem on US games will be a TV thing. If your TV is not multisystem, you will need an NTSC-PAL convertor available from Maplin.

Thanks, u understand all the risks

I'll have a look at the S point thanks, however I removed the Z point direct from the chip there was no need to re-open to the MBoard.

Is the not a colour fix I can do, like on the v3 - v5?
