cc1.1 trouble

did the romeo mod. and installed a cc1.1 in a v9. made a flash disk booted it and flashed the chip it said done so i assumed it worked. tryed a backup but no go. i stuck the flash cd again and it wouldnt boot.

chip led comes on and goes out on startup. tryed to get into recovery mode by hitting reset 3 times but i really dont know how/when.

so i unsoldered all wires to the chip and checked for resistance from wire ends to ground all show connectivity. so i stuck it back together to get the same thing.

i took it apart again and resolder all bottom connections including ha. still same thing, sometimes red screen sometimes disk read error.

it will play retail games still, when a game is loaded to menu and i hit eject it stays at the game menu and will load if i stick the disk back in.

im assuming i have the chip in right because of the led showing bios and dvdrom controller wires are right? what wires should i check? is there certain media i should try? i used imation cdr and dvd-r

Try different media. Could be a bad chip, but usually they don't flash at all if they are.

resoldered everything, now the dvdrom only spins up sometimes.

when i boot a retail disk the eject blinks a few times then light stays on for a sec then blinks a few more times then boots. backups still no go.

i damaged one of the ribbons, i repaired it, now it spins up everytime but will not play anything on dvd including retail ps2 games.
plays cdr and ps1 game backups without a problem.
im trying to figure out if i some how damaged the laser, onee of the chips , or screwed up on installing the chip.

romeo mod was done on this machine.
coils test 4.6 and 4.5.

is there a chip i should check?
are there seperate wires on the modchip for cd and dvd?

update

i replaced the laser and it would read dvds but not cds. replaced it again and everything is good.
