Are CC, DMS4, Matrix Inf only work for V1-7 but not V9-13?
Are CC, DMS4, Matrix Inf only work for V1-7 but not V9-13? –

I read there are many CC that is some what defected and will work only in V1 - V7, but not V9 - V13? I also heard if you pre-flash it on V7 then put it in V12 and it will work OK? Is there anyway to make the hack FW pre-loaded CC work in the V12? or do I have to try to get a replacement. I hate replacement because 1) many won't replace it, 2) if they do it will take a super long time, 3) often you will get another defected one and start all over again.
How many CC, DMS4, Matrix Inf are having the same problem? I hard 1 of 10 or even 7 of 10 chips will not work on V12? Is this true? Which chip has the most success rate on V12? Does this mean we many have to throw away S40, $80, or more before we will get lucky and get the one CC that works on a V12? Is the CC team working on this problem?
Please share your experience as this is so frustrating.

I have installed a bunch of Crystal Chips on v12 without any problems. I don't know where you heard that only some works with v12, but that's completely incorrect.

CC and V9+ –

The following quote is from the CC forum site:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Ask your dealer to flash your modchip before giving you the modded console back. It's known that chips (not only the CC that is, but other chips as well: I have 10 non-working DMS4 laying on my desk) sometime just doesn't drive enough power to overwrite the CDVD bus. But that's only true for v9+ consoles. Tell your reseller this chip will most probably work perfectly into a v7- console, and that he can exchange it without too much troubles; he'll be able to install it into another console (which is v7- of course).
-------------------------------------------------------------
I just wonder if other people have similar experiences. I can only check my soldering so many time before my eyes crossed
. I have installed over 100 chips into PS2s, including V12s, so I know what I am doing with soldering.

Are these posts written by users on their forum or posts made by the Crystal Team themselves? I find this to be a little off. CC does not have problems with v9+. Matrix Infinity was the only modchip to have firmware not compatible with v12 but they sold all those old chips by now and they are selling new chips with v1.36 firmware or newer.
Chips that do not work are probably defective. They shouldn't be working on one version and not the other. I have never encountered this.
