Can't find MX4? –
I have two friends that are interested in budget modchips. I have an MI myself and figured that the MX4 might be right up their alley...
The only problem is I haven't seen them for sale on the 3 mod sites I frequent.
How much is this chip and can you reccomend a site that actually has them?
Duo 2 se will work fine if you can't fine them MX4... They're kinda rare yeah. Maybe it's because it almost cost as much as the Matrix Infinity if I remember correctly.
I am worried about the Duo2SE because I've read here that it is a 5V chip. One of these consoles is a V1 and I'm betting that the other one is almost as old. One of these guys left his console one for 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT because he didn't have a memory card for Call of Duty and couldn't pass this particular part.
Basically, I want something that won't require special prodedures on their part (like having to entirely power down the entire PS2 every time he's done with it to keep the chip from sending instructions to the drive a la messiah). Auto-boot would be nice too.
I wasn't aware that the MX4 cost as much as the MI :-(. If that is true then I might consider a clone (a clone other than the Duo2SE)... as much as I'd rather *not* get a clone (after all I do have an MI in my unit)... their price ceiling is $20-$30, so that does limit the available options.
P.S. Modchipman.com is an official reseller and they don't carry the MX4... so that reseller list isn't as helpful as it might be.

duo2se can boot from menu so u dont need to restart it everytime u want it on. and as for mx4, i use them and the cost $37us which isnt all that bad for a autoboot mod and flash upgradable 1. but i think ur m8s should just go with duo2se as thats all they really need.
PS. just look to buy from a diff reseller then.
