    Hi,

My PS2 w/ Magic 2 v7 (NTSC) doesn't boot Dino Crisis (Original) at all. It just shows me a big red cirle with a slash through the middle.

Just wondering if Magic 2 chip is able to boot these PSX games w/countermeasures against mod chips. Burning a CD w/ a patch is the only way to work this out?

    Thanks!

You are correct. The PS2 can not boot anti-mod ps1 games.

Just get a patch. The only downside to this, is that it wont play an original anti-mod game. But hey, I guess you cant have everything.

Since there is really only 1 active wire[connection] that the game detects, you could conceivably put an on/off switch on the S point [SCEx Point]. The protection was originally intended for cd-r copies of that game to not play, but...since its an original disc, it should boot w/S point off. If not, hook the ground wire up to it, that disables the chip [might be more wires...].

I can understand why the PS1 GS disc has suuuuuuch a long intro. Intended for a last-min restroom break?
