About 4 months ago I had what I thought was a real matrix infinity installed.
Turns out it isn't a real one. I found out after I tried to upgrade to the 1.75 firmware and it stopped working. I opened up my ps2 and found the MI SE.

Is it possible to fix the modchip? I'd like to ditch it and get a real infinity, but I'm a poor student and can't afford it, so a fix would be great.

It's not possible to fix. The flash is screwed. You need a new chip. =)

Slightly more than that for me unfortunately. I live in a 3rd world country (well, New Zealand is *nearly* 3rd world) and I'd have to get the sucker installed to, cause I'm bad at soldering. About NZ$80 I'd estimate.

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to be happy with GT4 for a while. Its the only PAL game I own.

    EDIT: NZ$130 actually. Holy crap.
