I am burning ISO's with ImgBurn, and am having a few problems. About every other burn It is timing out. It is never at the same spot, feels pretty random. Sometimes it will burn 30%, and sometimes 90% (and other times finish fine).

I am burning at 4x, because ImgBurn shows the disks compatibility at 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, and 16x. I tried to do a 1x burn also, but had the same problem.

    Media I am using
    Sony DVD+R w/ AccuCORE

Not sure if knowing my computer specs will help, but here is my setup.

    Athlon 4600+ x2 Dual Core
    ATI 1900xtx 512 PCI-E graphics card
2 gigs dual chan 400 hyperx ram
    2 36 gig raptor drives raided 0
Liquid cooled, CPU temp running at 26d cel.

Here are some pictures of a burn, going fine. But where is shows Write Rate: 5584KB/s (4.0x) when the problem occurs, that goes to 0.0KB/s and the estimated time just says N/A (coudln't get a screenshot, because the last two I did worked fine, and I have no more images to burn atm

    A' ok baby! (working fine)

and sometimes I get this after the burn is completed, and it ejects the disk, pulls it back in, and does some type of check

When problem with the write speed going to 0.0 happens, eventually it starts freezing up all open applications, and I have to shut down my machine. Not sure if that is related, but it happens every time the burn doesn't complete.

    Any sugguestions?

did you install your writer recently ?
    is it jumpered right ?
it looks like your burner is conflicting with a other device (hd,Cd,dvd etc)
try to put the burner on a other channel or jumper it correctly (master/slave)
also using more burning programma's can make conflicts on the aspi drivers
    check this to
did you check for a firmware update for your burner sometimes this can do magic

if above not work then propably only answer is your burner is broken, replace it with a NEC just 30 dollar and you will be fine

    How do I change 'channels'?

Perhaps my actual drives are not hooked up correctly? Here is how they are hooked up.

I'm not sure this is creating a problem, but your master drive should be at the end of the cable and vise versa for the slave.. also, I'd make the Burner the master and the storage HD the slave, but that's just me...

You said other apps would lock up or freeze when this happens.. out of curiousity, what other apps are running and have you tried shutting them down while you burn.. I persoanlly don;t run any other apps when burning. Never had a problem using Image burn either... I use an NEC 3550 Burner.. the thing hasn;t failed me once.

    The connection is correct.
I suggest to use DVD Decrypter for iso DVD burning.
Also, uncheck verify after write. I'm pretty sure this is the cause of ur problem.

well... I tried DVD Dycrypter, and it didn't work, but did perhaps get us closer to the solution?

first it gave me this error after about 10 minutes of thinking

If I hit 'retry' I get this window
