  1. #1 bridging connections for blown fuses, help needed
    hikaru_shindou Guest
a recent ps2 that i have accquired does not power on at all. i have done some research and i have found that the fuses are blown (not ones on the power supply but ones on the mainboard)

i have heard of a way to bridge 1 working fuse to the blown one in order to get the ps2 to power up but im not exactly sure how this is done.

id like to know if you only need to find the blown fuse on the mobo, find its original output (like 5v or example) and then solder a wire from that fuse to a working 5v fuse in order to get the ps2 to power up.

thanks for any help i really appreciated.

You shouldn't ever bridge fuses, they are here for a good reason. Try replacing them insted. If you still wanna bridge them just but solder between the two connection point but do it at your own risk.

i see, but replacing them will be a problem, since i only know of only 1 site that sells them and i dont even know how to take out the fuses in the first place. they are the black boxes on the ps2 mainboard right? can i simply just pull it out?

just buy a normal glass fuse of the right value and solder a wire to each side, connect the wires one on each side of the blown fuse. Check http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...&threadid=4430 for info on fuse values

you can use any old piece of wire.. whatever sticks to the fuse on the mobo best.. I mean the wires will be short ...
