DMS3
Matrix Infinity
It depends on what version of the Playstation 2 you have.
In my opinion as it is your first time modding a Playstation 2 then your best to go with the DUO modchip for Playstation2.
Here's a little bit about it;
Features:
17 wire install!
Load all your discs direct without swapping
Direct Boot of PS1 Original Imports and backups
Direct Boot of PS2 Original Import CDs and DVDs
Direct Boot of PS2 Backup CDs and DVDs
DVD Movies NO FREEZING
Boot from browser or main menu
GS/GS2/AR2 with codes work for your cheaters
One chip supports NTSC V1-v7 and PAL V3-V8.
Modes:
PS2 Mode, PSX Mode, DVD Movie Mode and Disable Mode.
[PS2 games]
Method 1:
-Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
-Insert PS2 game in tray.
-Tap RESET button once, the machine would reboot and then load your game.
Method 2:
- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
- Insert PS2 game in tray, the press EJECT button to close tray.
- The disc will then take 2-5 seconds to be recognized and then boot.
To boot another game when already playing a game.
- Press EJECT button.
- The current game would then pause and the tray would come out.
- Change to another PS2 game disc and tap RESET button once.
- The machine would reboot and then load your game.
[PSX games]
- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
- Insert PSX game in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off machine.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button once the Blue LED light of the Eject button lights up.
[DVD movies]
- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
- Insert DVD movie in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off machine.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button after like 4-5 seconds.
[Disable Mode]
- Hold the RESET button for like 4-5 seconds to boot up your machine.
But if you are one of those unlucky people that got stuck with a v9/v10 then you are best to go with the MagicV 50k/5k6 modchip for Playstation2.
Here's a little bit about it;
Features:
Load all your discs direct without swapping
Direct Boot of PS1 Original Imports and backups
Direct Boot of PS2 Original Import CDs and DVDs
Direct Boot of PS2 Backup CDs and DVDs
DVD9 game support
Full screen display
AR2/Gameshark2 ready
Loads from browser
Works with ps2 from all countries (JAP/USA/EURO)
NTSC and PAL ready
Sleep mode feature
Hope this helps you![]()
when the new firmware is out dms3 will probably be the best chip around. and it can be upgraded later
So can the Matrix Infinity
And I personally like a lot the automatic PS2/PSX/DVD detection.
Duo is a good value for it's price, but not the best around.
Magic I stopped installing them many monthes ago. Not stable, too many problems and no support.
Regards,
Chip&Chop.
right now its the dms3.. Infinity still is brand new and needs to prove over time.
Chip&Chop,
What exactly do you mean by instability with the Magic (V?)
Can you give a specific example?
As far as i can see with the US v.10 i have, the Magic V 5K6 seems like a worthy chip. If you do not plan to use HDD and Online features, the Magic V should perform up to your needs.
Neo 4 all the way!!
The request of this thread is "What is the best chip out there".
"Best" for me means also "more complete".
So for me is kinda pointless to discuss about modchips other then the Matrix Infinity and the DMS3, unless the guy who opened this thread modifies it in "What is the best chip for my money".
In than case we can even discuss of the NEO4 like Unfinity suggested![]()
