Hi, i have a v5 pal. I try to install a magic 3.1. The problem is this: in the dvds backups no problems, boot 100% but the cdr dont boot, display or a red screen or a dont data in disc. I try the azeimuth adjust of the lens and in a point, the cdr boot 100% but dont boot dvd now. I try changing the magic 3.1 for an ice code or the new 17 wires code and the somthing. I try another lens and happen exactly the same. Anyone can help me? thanks a lot.

maybe you adjusted the values so high that the laser died. were you using a multimeter? cause i know if you dont adjust the pots properly you can kill the laser.

There are to ways to adjust the laser assembly. One is the azimuth, the most commont one. Second is the white cog (is it called so?) adjuster.

It is situated at the back of the assembly. Truning it will cause the laser assembly to rise of to fall. At a certain point the laser assembly falls down but that isn't bad. it just returnes to the "zero point" Adjust this one (usually between 1/2 and 3/4 a turn it works best. Turn it a little bit a time and test again. Make sure the azimuth is adjusted good.

    Succes
