Does anyone know the difference between the Bluechip and the Smartchip? Will the smartchip work in a V9

    Cheers

Cheers, is there anyway I can tell which specific version I have? Will I damage either the Chip or the PS if I put the wrong one in?

    Thanks

Smartchip boots direct from the browser, Bluechip doesn't. Bluechip maintains the PS2 logo, Smartchip doesn't! So I guess that means they are very different?

The Smartchip pro X5 for v9 has 'X5' printed on the rear so can be easily distinguished from the v1-7 Smartchip

Well that settles it then... just been talking privately to evo (nick) and he still holds that the BlueX-5 is actually just his chip...

but none of the BlueX-5 have X5 printed on the rear - and like most HK mods (apple chips etc) it comes with double sided addhesive already attached.

The BlueX-5 I have (if in fact they are bluechips - as has been claimed - as this is what they sell as in HK) does actually remove the PS2 logo the same as the smartchip V9 does.

They both use the same connection points so there is no chance of damaging your station by getting confused between the chips.

You will however need to be sure that your station is a V9, your question is not so clear as to what version you are unclear about... i.e. station or chip?

"is there anyway I can tell which specific version I have?"

If you mean station then a V9 will be labeled SCPH-5000x

If you mean the chip - it doesn't matter the BlueX-5 and the smartchipX5 are interchangeable.

Smartchip X5 and the bluechip for v9 are the same. Evolutionmods sells mods that have ripped code in them and sells them. So yeah they are techincally the same.

wow, have all these people tested both chips & know for sure or, are some speculating. Please keep your facts to what you actually know.

In the meantime, will somebody give me a link for the bluechip X5 so I can test it myself & give an honest opinion. My experience is based on the bluechip NOT the bluechip X5!
