Black and White Problems
Black and White Problems –
04-10-2004,07:17 PM
I just got my v7 PS2 modded in Europe with a Magic V.
I have a NTSC PS2 I have bought in the US and use it on a NTSC tv. When I plugged in my PS2 I noticed that everything was black and white.
Over in Europe it worked fine in color but not in the USA. I think it was a PAL tv and the game was NTSC.
How can I fix this black and white stuff. I prefer a non opening PS2 method.
I have searched and I can't find anyone else with a NTSC PS2, TV, and game with this problem. It worked on a PAL tv though. I've only tried original NTSC games and I've tried it on two TVs.

hmm they may have hardware modded it to always output in PAL format. you either have to undo that or buy a multiversion compatible tv.

dont bend the legs apart. you'll break it. you have to unsolder them.

So do I detach the GND on the modchip from the PAL GND point and attach it to the GND on the diagram for Magic V?

is that the only thing I have to do to change it back to NTSC if my NTSC PS2 was set to work in PAL mode?

I don't see the solder on the legs that the diagram shows
I asked the guy who installed it and he said to do what it says on the pdf file for the color and he said he doesnt matter what chip you have
the pdf file is here:
here is the file

if the modder did it that way i'd just cut the wire in half and put electrical tape on both ends. (that way you dont have to unsolder anything)
