Black Screen on a v4 Magic3
Black Screen on a v4 Magic3 –
After the blood sweat and tears of soldering the bits in, i hooked everything back up only to power up my ps2 to a black screen. i fiddled with the reset button some, popped in some games, to no avail. any comments as to what i could have done wrong, potential fixes? i read that that's usually a mis-install on the bios, but i sure dont know. any help would be appreciated, but im not too terribly hopeful.
Check that m n o and p are connected to the correct points and that no wires are loose or shorting against each other the best thig to do is just check check and keep checking if nees be redo all the bios points hope this helps.
Use a magnifying glass + multimeter to check for shorts between the legs of any chips you have soldered to, as long as they dont read a direct short they you are ok. Also make sure no wires got shorted as you screwed the metal plate down.
If you are happy with the wires you have soldered, then maybe do this.....Get some sellotape(clear tape) and sandwich the wires just before you have soldered them to the messiah...Desolder them from the messiah..Now this saves time for when you want to resolder them. MAKE SURE you insulate the bare ends after you remove the messiah chip, use electricians tape or equivalent for this. Finally with the chip out reassemble your ps2 and see if it boots up , if it does not then obviously the chip isnt causing the problem as you have removed it. Check all the onboard fuses (small black squares/rectangles) on the mainboard to see if any are blown..
